“Growing Deeper in Faith, Reaching Out in Love”

Mission Statement of Crossnore Presbyterian Church

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve Candlelight service was a beautiful time of celebration and worship. Many old and new friends joined us as we filled the sanctuary and celebrated with music, scripture readings, and reflections. Every dollar of the Christmas Eve offering went to Volunteer Avery County, a local crisis ministry and one of our mission partners. We collected $3,113.00, an amazing outpouring of love to those who are in desperate need this winter. We are so very grateful to all who contributed. Volunteer Avery County serves so many of our Avery County residents who fall through the cracks. It helps with emergency needs such as medicine, rent, oil, electricity, food and much more.

Bible study

The Wednesday Bible Study meets from 3-4:30 p.m. and is continuing its study on the Gospel of Mark. This is a great group to learn and share and to grow in faith and friendship. You are always welcome.

During Winter:

Winter Worship is being held in the church fellowship hall during the months of January, February, and March. While the snowbird members of our church family are enjoying the Sunny South, the winter congregation is conserving heat. You are invited to join us for an informal worship service in the fellowship hall beginning at 11 a.m. followed by coffee and conversation. Choir Practice begins at 9 a.m. and Sunday School begins at 10:15 a.m. Come as you are!

Church potlucks

Our January Potluck Luncheon will be held following worship on Sunday, January 27. Ham and drinks will be provided with side dishes provided by the congregation. We will also collect Food for People and Pets and the Five Cents of Meal Offering that Sunday.

Knitting Group

The weekly Knitting Group resumed on Wednesday, January 9, 1-3 p.m. Everyone is invited. If you are a beginner, there is always someone to help you get started. Knitted hats and scarves are given to the local homeless shelter and schools.

Florence relief

Thanks to all who donated to Hurricane Florence relief in October. We collected $880. The funds have been sent to Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, our sister congregation in Wrightsville Beach, NC. They are working directly with W.A.R.M. (Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministries) on homes that have been rejected by FEMA because the families or individuals do not meet all of the FEMA requirements. We are continuing to accept donations. If you would like to donate, make your check out to Crossnore Presbyterian Church and designate it for Hurricane Relief. Please keep members of our church family and all who continue to suffer from the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
